Unicode
As the Chairperson of the Unicode Emoji Subcommittee since 2019, I am responsible for the technical implementation of character encodings, driving the strategy and guidelines for new emoji, improving the operations of reviewing proposals and aligning on fundamental interoperability needs with Apple, Google, Microsoft and Meta.
My work to standardize globally relevant expressions into the Unicode Standard has resulted in some of the most iconic recent additions including: 🫠❤️🔥🥲🫥️🫤🫡🫣❤️🩹😵💫.
Emoji Kitchen
People want to play with emoji like we do with words — mashing them together, turning nouns into verbs, breaking them apart to create entirely new concepts. Language is infinitely creative just like art and music, and with features like Emoji Kitchen, our keyboards become an even richer canvas for expression. 🥳🥰😈

Dynapuff
Based on the 500 hand-drawn typographic stickers created for Gboard, DynaPuff is a playful and blobby display variable font that makes it possible to now customize them with your own text! Designed with Toshi Omagari, its hand-drawn charm and bouncy baseline give it a fun, energetic feel, perfect for sticker art, children's books, and casual designs.
It may look cute but it’s also high tech — Dynapuff is a variable typeface with character-alternates giving it a more natural, less robotic look for repeated letters so you can OOOoooOOo and aAAAAaaeeWWWee at it’s typographic tone of voice. DynaPuff is available via an open source license and you can download it via Google Fonts. Shout out to TikTok and Capcut who use it as one of the default fonts.
Animated Emoji
Language doesn’t stand still and emoji don’t have to either. As we move beyond plain text communications to rich immersive ones — like live streaming and video conferencing — emoji continue to demonstrate their relevance as an affordance to backchannel with others. These emotional connections are a big part of how we show empathy and build relationships 🥲
That’s why we built an open-source library of wiggly worms, dancing goats, and winking faces so everyone can use them. Maybe you've seen them in Google Meet, Google Messages, Google Chat or in YouTube.😉
